The City of Sun will don colors and tradition on October 26 with the much-anticipated Catrinas Run, a relay race inspired by Day of the Dead culture. Organized by women from the running community, this event aims to honor memory, promote identity, and strengthen the Latino community’s bonds.
A Relay with Cultural Meaning
Teams of four female runners will each run 100-meter legs and cross the finish line together. Participants are encouraged to wear themed outfits inspired by La Catrina, combining sport with folklore to show that heritage and physical strength go hand in hand.

More than a Race: An Act of Connection
Beyond the route itself, the day will include special medals for all participants, symbolic awards, and moments to honor lost loved ones. The goal is for every step to reflect respect, shared emotion, and cultural pride.
Open Invitation: Run, Remember and Celebrate
Anyone can form a team or register individually to join the event. The race will begin in the evening, when the atmosphere meets the soft glow of twilight. It promises to be an afternoon where sport and Mexican roots intersect, in an intimate and meaningful format that unites women with purpose.
