Noemi Hopper (@noemihopper on TikTok) returned to Miami after a weekend wedding in New Jersey—and the first thing she did was ask the question we’ve all wondered at least once:
Are weddings in the U.S. really like this, or was it just this one?
In her video, Noemi humorously recounts her experience as a guest at an American wedding. Not only does she make you laugh with every detail, but she also brings up some cultural differences that often go unnoticed… until you experience them firsthand.
The Vows No One Said (and the Mic Everyone Used)
Noemi started her story with total confusion:
“I thought weddings were about couples saying their vows, but here they didn’t say a single word.”
Yes, while TikTok is filled with super romantic clips of couples tearfully reciting heartfelt vows, at this wedding the couple seemed to be on mute. The entire speech came from the officiant, and Noemi—who didn’t even know the couple—joked that if someone had told her they were mute, she’d have believed it.
What did surprise (and please) her was the dinner portion, where a microphone was passed around and guests shared funny childhood stories about the bride and groom. But that’s also when things got very American.

Sports, Colleges, and… Trump at the Wedding?
Noemi noticed that many of the speeches revolved around sports and college affiliations. Literally, people said things like:
“We always knew she was the one because she was an Eagles fan.”
“Our son was bound to find a good girl—he was great at baseball.”
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more stereotypically “USA,” the grand finale: a surprise appearance by Donald Trump. Yes, really.
Turns out many wedding venues are owned by his real estate companies, and when he’s in the area, he sometimes drops by to greet the couple—and snap a photo. Noemi says she asked for the picture to prove it, but since she didn’t know anyone, she hasn’t had any luck.
Outside the venue? Armored cars, secret agents, and the full political spectacle.
A Very American Wedding (and More to Come)
Noemi ended her video saying thank God she packed more than one dress, because apparently she’s heading back to New Jersey for another wedding in a few days. And now that she’s seen how wild U.S. weddings can get, she’s ready for anything (and so are we).
With humor, cultural curiosity, and a parade of American clichés, Noemi turns a simple story into a personal mini-documentary about traditions that—when seen from the outside—feel straight out of a movie.
