Technology is no longer a promise—it’s becoming reality in Miami-Dade County. During eMerge Americas, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the county unveiled a series of innovations that are reshaping how people interact with public spaces.
From AI-powered holograms to cleaning robots and intelligent traffic systems, Miami is positioning itself as a future-ready city.
A hologram that assists you at the airport
One of the most striking announcements was the introduction of an AI-powered hologram at Miami International Airport.
This virtual assistant will provide real-time support to passengers, helping answer questions, guide travelers, and enhance the overall airport experience. Beyond physical displays, the system also integrates with web platforms, mobile devices, and on-site kiosks.
According to officials, this makes the airport the first in the world to deploy large-scale, location-aware and agentic artificial intelligence across its digital infrastructure.

Robots keeping PortMiami clean
Innovation is also arriving at PortMiami, where an automated cleaning system developed by WorkWise was introduced.
These robots are designed to clean floors more efficiently, optimizing resources while maintaining high hygiene standards at one of the busiest ports in the world.
While not the kind of futuristic robots seen in movies, their real-world impact is significant, helping PortMiami maintain its reputation as the cruise capital of the world and a major cargo gateway.
AI solutions to tackle traffic congestion
Another key challenge Miami aims to address is traffic congestion, particularly in high-traffic areas like the port.
To tackle this, the county announced a partnership with GridMatrix, which will implement an AI-powered system capable of analyzing real-time data.
The platform uses sensors and cloud-based inputs to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and lower emissions—contributing to a safer and more efficient urban environment.
A city designed for the future
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy by Miami-Dade to integrate emerging technologies into its infrastructure.
The goal is not only modernization but also delivering tangible benefits for both residents and visitors—from smoother airport experiences to more efficient transportation systems.
When technology becomes everyday life
What once felt like science fiction is quickly becoming part of daily life. Miami isn’t just adopting artificial intelligence—it’s embedding it into its core operations.
With these advancements, the city strengthens its position as a leading tech hub in the United States and a global reference for innovation.
